About the Fund
Like the industrial revolution before it, the new media revolution is changing the ways that information, entertainment, communication, and commerce are delivered and utilized.
Great new opportunities exist for able young ventures that are able to navigate the emerging landscape and ascertain the resources necessary to keep pace with rapid evolution and fierce competition. GCH is an investment fund that shines the financial community's light on a select group of young ventures that are best able to take advantage of these opportunities and are most deserving of increased attention.
GCH will make early stage investments in new media companies that might not otherwise be noticed by larger venture capital funds. Presently, the Fund seeks to associate itself with the best and brightest entrepreneurs and get its investors on board with their promising early stage companies located primarily in New York City and the Greater Northeast. GCH will provide its companies capital and hands-on support in order to accelerate their progress and chances of success. Our Portfolio Companies will receive:
Management
Gregory Belmont, General Partner and Chief Strategy Officer, has been involved with new enterprise development since inventing a product while a graduate student at MIT ten years ago. He has served as CEO of one of the largest subscription-based consumer services on the internet, lead a database marketing venture with a company that was acquired by IBM, developed a distribution channel for consumer software, and has provided start-up assistance to a number of internet ventures. In addition to this entrepreneurial activities, Gregory has worked as a strategy consultant with Arthur D. Little and Mercer Management Consulting, assisting emerging and established companies in the biotechnology, communication, and transportation industries on corporate strategy, research & development, and mergers & acquisitions. Mr. Belmont completed advanced graduate studies in computational neuroscience and business at MIT as a recipient of the prestigious Office of Naval Research Fellowship and is a graduate of Harvard College. Warren Haber, General Partner and Chief Investment Officer, has been analyzing, directing, and managing private equity investments for the past five years. Most recently, he managed $39 million of investments for GE Capital's Equity Capital Group in seven venture capital transactions. His investments have included a number of well known technology companies, several of which have completed successful initial public offerings. Prior to his new media focus, Warren analyzed and structured three leveraged buyouts for a firm with $170 million under management. Earlier in his career, Warren distinguished himself in BankBoston's management development program where he was promoted three times in four years and spent two summers as an Investment Analyst at Allen and Company. Warren received his MBA from the Wharton School of Business where he was an Associate with a regional technology transfer consortium and his BA from Brown University. Michael Oster, General Partner and Chief Operational Officer, previously co-founded two funds to invest in real estate and venture capital transactions in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. He was CEO of Commonwealth Property Investors, a $50 million partnership between the AT&T Pension Fund and Aldrich Eastman & Waltch which made 12 investments in Russia and the Ukraine including the Moscow Gold's Gym which was one of the most profitable health clubs in the world. Prior to his institutional investment management work, Michael created and managed several enterprises in Moscow from the time he moved to Russia in 1991 including residential and commercial real estate brokerages, a property management company, and an investment company. Prior to moving to Russia, Michael was an Associate at the consulting firm of A. T. Kearney and worked as a financial planning and business analyst at IBM. Michael received his MBA from NYU's Stern School of Business in 1988 where he received an award for best thesis in finance and his BA from Brandies University in 1986.
